I have a boy who loves to wear dresses. He prefers to wear dresses instead of traditional boy clothes. This is not what most people think life will be like when they have a son. For a while, I struggled to bring up to people about my son’s desire to wear a dress. But I quickly realized his happiness was more important than my struggles. I am still struggling to figure out how he will fit in in the world, but right now, his happiness is the most important thing. As I began to research and search for books about boys in dresses, I realized there wasn’t much out there. There are a few great articles and some amazing children’s books (which I hope to share on my blog). There are also some great supportive Facebook groups, but there aren’t a lot of places for Mom’s to connect and share their stories. This is what I hope my blog will become. A place where moms who have a boy in a dress can connect, share their stories, and share how they overcame some of the societal struggles we all feel.

My career as an educator for ten years has allowed me to work with children of all ages. I have observed that children are happiest when they are able to be themselves. Children start to discover who they are at a young age and as an educator, my job is to facilitate that personal growth. I not only have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, but a Master’s degree in Special Education, and Literacy. I also continually attend professional development to further my personal education.

I’m a teacher and a mother with a love for writing. I have three sons, a wonderful husband, three cats, twenty chickens, and a turtle. My plan is to post a new blog every Thursday. Please feel free to comment on the post or contact me via my contact page.
